Dorothy Nyakato Nzibonera, the incumbent Woman Member of Parliament for Kitagwenda District, has been re-elected for a second term following her victory in the recent general elections.
Nzibonera, representing the National Resistance Movement (NRM), garnered 31,218 votes, or 64.1 percent of the total, defeating her closest rival, independent candidate Dr Grace Ninsiima, who received 17,283 votes, equivalent to 35.9 percent.
“I am deeply grateful to the people of Kitagwenda for giving me another opportunity to serve them,” Nzibonera said.
“This victory is a mandate to continue from where we stopped and to work even harder for our communities.”
Serving on the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Nzibonera pledged to prioritize service delivery, particularly in education and health.
“My focus in the next term will be to strengthen education standards, improve health services, and advocate for programs that uplift the livelihoods of our people,” she added. “I will continue to be a strong voice for Kitagwenda in Parliament.”
Her re-election marks continuity in leadership for the district, with supporters expressing optimism that her experience in Parliament will further benefit service delivery and development initiatives across Kitagwenda.
